If I were you I'd look at the Pacific resort destinations. A lot of people these days are buying villas in Thailand, Bali, even the Maldives. Tourists show up year round out there, so renting out a place can pay off pretty well.

Dubai's been a hot spot for tourists from the US for a while now, flights packed out heading there from all over the country. Plenty of those folks were renting places once they landed too.
