Description
This course contains the use of artificial intelligence.
Master the practical DNS and domain-management skills needed to connect websites, deliver email, enable SSL, protect domains, and troubleshoot failures. This course is designed for website owners, support staff, junior administrators, freelancers, and hosting professionals who want a clear mental model instead of trial-and-error changes.
You will learn how the DNS hierarchy works, how registrars and authoritative nameservers interact, and how recursive lookups reach an answer. Hands-on lessons cover A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, CAA, SRV, and common verification records. You will practice reading zones, understanding TTL and propagation, planning nameserver changes, and connecting domains to hosting or third-party services.
Email authentication is taught as a complete system. You will configure and interpret SPF, DKIM, and DMARC, identify alignment problems, and use headers and DNS evidence to investigate delivery failures. SSL modules explain certificate validation, HTTPS, renewals, mixed content, and the difference between DNS problems and certificate problems.
Security lessons cover registrar locks, account protection, DNSSEC concepts, least-privilege access, change documentation, rollback plans, and safe domain transfers. Troubleshooting labs include missing records, duplicate SPF policies, broken CNAME chains, incorrect MX priorities, stale caches, nameserver mismatches, and failed validation.
Your capstone is a controlled DNS cutover: audit the current zone, build the replacement, lower TTL safely, migrate website and email records, validate SSL and authentication, monitor the change, and prepare a rollback report. Downloadable checklists, worksheets, command references, and quizzes support the work.
By the end, you will be able to make DNS changes methodically, verify the real result, and explain what happened in language a client or teammate can understand.
