Seed Popping Under Cold Soil

Post by justicebzw »

Root zone temperature matters more than air temperature at germination, and soil under twenty degrees stalls seeds for a week or longer. A cheap heat mat with a thermostat fixes it for the price of a coffee. Germination temperature ranges and timing notes are written up at https://queenfeminizedseeds.com in the starter section. Cold windowsills in early spring account for a lot of blamed packs.
